What stays on your device

Your name on the leaderboard form, your mute setting, your best scores and unlocked badges, and your daily streak are all saved in your browser’s local storage. None of that leaves your device unless you submit one of the forms below — we don’t read it, and clearing your browser data clears it for good.

Suggesting a word

The Suggest a word form sends the word, category, hint, optional example sentence, and an optional name or handle (only if you choose to give credit) to a Google Form, which lands in a spreadsheet we review before adding anything to the game.

Posting to the leaderboard

The name you type after a Marathon run, along with your score, is posted to the public leaderboard — visible to anyone who opens the page. Use a nickname if you’d rather not use your real name.

Claiming the weekly prize — the one private form

The Claim prize form asks for your name, winning score, bank name, account number, and account name, so we can verify you’re that week’s leader and send the ₦3,000 cash to the right account. This response sheet is kept private — owner-only access, never published, never linked to any page on the site. It exists purely so we can pay out and reach you if we have a question about a claim.

Anonymous traffic pings

Every page load quietly logs which page was visited, where you came from (or “direct” if there’s no referrer), whether you’re using the installed app or a browser tab, and your screen width. No names, emails, or IP addresses are collected by us in this ping — it’s just how we see which pages people actually use.

The Word Coach (AI)

When you tap “Pidgin hint” or “Ask the Word Coach” in the game, the game sends only that word, its category and its hint line to an AI service (Google Gemini, reached through a small relay we run on Cloudflare) so it can write a reply. Nothing you type, no name, and no score is sent, and we don’t store the request or the answer. The relay may see your IP address to limit how often it can be called, as any web service does. Replies are machine-written, so they can occasionally be off — treat them as a helper, not a dictionary.

Live 1v1 matches

When you tap “Play a friend”, the game opens a temporary match room on a small Cloudflare server. While you play, it passes along the name you typed, the seven words for the match, and your moves (which round you solved and how many letters you have placed) so both players see the same thing. Nothing is saved after the match: the room is deleted when it ends, when you both leave, or after a short time with nobody in it. Anyone with the invite link can join as the second player, so only share it with the person you mean to play. Matches never count towards the leaderboard or the weekly prize.

Challenge links

When you tap “Challenge a friend”, the game builds a link that contains the name you typed, your score and the ten words you played, and hands it to WhatsApp or your share sheet. That link lives only in the message you send — we don’t store it, and a challenge never counts towards the leaderboard or the weekly prize.

Who else touches this data

Every form on this site is processed by Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets, so Google’s own privacy policy covers that handling. The site itself is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs under GitHub’s privacy policy, and the Word Coach relay runs on Cloudflare. We don’t run ad networks or third-party trackers on this site.

Cookies

We don’t set cookies. The only thing stored on your device is browser local storage, used solely for game state as described above.
